Artist John Rombough
John Rombough is a contemporary self-taught Chipewyan Dene painter from Sioux Lookout. His vibrant designs were influenced by artists such as Norval Morrisseau and the ‘Native Group of Seven.’ John’s search for his biological father brought him to the tiny community of Lutselk’e on the shores of Great Slave Lake. He found inspiration in harmony between the Dene people and the natural world, leading to his distinctive modern aboriginal designs. John’s art conveys the message of compassion, respect and respect for self, people and land.
